Long Island Iced Tea

The Long Island Iced Tea, look up any recipe for this drink and chances are it's just a bunch of alcohol with a splash of coke, it's just too strong and doesn't taste very good. The secret of this drink is not to drown it in alcohol, try the recipe below and I bet it will be one of the best you'll ever have.

½ oz. Spiced Rum
½ oz. Vodka
½ oz. Triple Sec
½ oz. Gin
½ oz. Tequila
¾ oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
½ oz. Simple Syrup
4 to 5 oz. Coca-Cola

Combine all the ingredients except the Coca-Cola and stir. Top with Coca-Cola and serve in a collins glass. Garnish with a lemon wedge.

Jamaican Sunshine

It seems every summer it gets hotter and hotter here in south Florida, it's not so much the heat that bothers everyone, it's the humidity, it just wears you down. You need a drink that will refresh you, that will make you forget the sauna like conditions around you. This drink does that, and does it well.

2 oz. Dark Rum
1 oz. Lime Juice
1 oz. Simple Syrup
3 oz. Ginger Beer

Mix all ingredients with ice in a shaker, then strain into a higball glass full of ice. Garnish with a lime wheel. *** Note: To make the simple syrup, combine 2 part sugar with 1 part water in a sauce pan, bring to a boil, let cool down, pour into a container, then refrigerate until ready to use.

Vanilia Ruby

I received an email recently asking if I could post a new drink before the weekend, that way they could kick start the weekend with one of my fine creations. Here is a little something I just made a few minutes ago, and might I say, it is not bad, not bad at all. So lets kick off this weekend with the Vanilia Ruby.

1 oz. Absolut Vanilia Vodka
½ oz. Cointreau
1 oz. Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice
¼ oz. Lemon Juice

Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Then strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

California Dreamin'

This is a drink I came upon a few weeks ago at a popular restaurant downtown. It will definitely cool you down on a hot summer day. The bartender was kind enough to provide me with all the details to make this one myself, and I have, and now you can too. Here is how you make 1 serving:

1¼ oz. Mango Flavored Rum
½ oz. Raspberry Liqueur
3 oz. Cranberry Juice
3 oz. Pineapple Juice
Sprite

Pack a hurricane glass or a highball glass with ice cubes, pour in the liquor, add the juices, fill to top with sprite. Garnish with an orange slice.

Georgia Peach

We all have lasting childhood memories of summertime, going to the beach and building sandcastles, a lazy day spent at the lake fishing with your grandpa, or the many backyard picnics with your family. One of my fondest memories was going to a peach orchard and picking the fruit straight off the trees, what a great time! This drink reminds me of those times, and it's a great summertime drink.

3/4 oz. Peach Vodka (I used Absolut)
3/4 oz. Vanilla Vodka
1/2 oz. Peach Schnapps
3 to 5 oz. Oceanspray White Cranberry Peach Juice
1 Peach Slice

Fill a pint glass halfway with ice, pour in the liqour, add the peach slice, add more ice, then fill to top with the juice.

Apple Pie

It's almost Independance Day, and what could be more american than apple pie? I was going to do a red, white, & blue drink, but there aren't any that I like, not that there is a whole lot of em anyway. Instead I made this drink, it's actually quite good, the original recipe calls for regular vodka, but I substituted vanilla vodka, it gives it a whole new taste. Go make one and let me know what you think.

2 shots of Apple Juice
1 shot of Vanilla Vodka
Whip Cream
Cinnamon

Combine apple juice and vanilla vodka in a shaker filled with ice. Shake and pour into a lowball glass. Top off with whip cream and sprinkle some cinnamon on top.
